• ✓ Bright, even light, daytime or near a window is ideal
• ✓ Their face in focus and looking toward the camera
• ✓ Taken at their eye level (head-and-shoulders or full body)

Try to avoid

• ✕ Dark, blurry, or very small / low-resolution photos
• ✕ Faces hidden behind hands, toys, or other objects
• ✕ Busy scenes or several pets tangled together (one or two is best)
• ✕ Text, stickers, or heavy filters over the photo
• ✕ Far-away or extreme-angle shots where your pet is tiny
